IPS (Independent Public School) Council recommendations were formed in response to parent, staff, student and the broader communities' feedback.

The IPS Council Recommendation 3: That the school consider investing in rehabilitating the toilet block opposite the MPS.

Our Response/Actions: It is important to note that the school has invested approximately $47 000 in repairing facilities that have been damaged in our school by students. This kind of behaviour is most disappointing and has meant that we have been forced to direct funds into repairing facilities rather than refurbishing them.

We have committed to the industrial cleaning of all amenities twice yearly to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. A systematic approach to the refurbishment of all amenities has been employed, this year we have refurbished the F block student amenities, and these are open for student access.

We are committed to setting aside funds in our 2020 school budget for the refurbishment of the MPS amenities forecast to cost approximately $60 000. Additionally, we will invest in educating and encouraging students to be an 'upstander' and report behaviour that occurs in the student amenities that is a breach of our expectations and causes damage to our school property. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by end of semester one 2020.

Furthermore, we are investigating the employment of a day cleaner who will service the amenities facilities throughout the day.

Our new procedures for exiting a classroom to access amenities will enhance safety of all members of our community and reduce vandalism so that funds currently used to repair damage can be redirected into systematic refurbishment of these facilities. Additional amenities will be built as part of our new 10 classroom building. Construction of this facility will commence in 2020.
