Recently, our Independent Public Schools Council formed recommendations to the school in response to parent, staff, student and the broader communities' feedback.
The IPS Council Recommendation 4: That the school continue to invest in professional development in Positive Psychology to build the knowledge and capacity of teachers/staff within the classroom/school.
Our Response/Actions: We are committed to continuing to build our understanding and skills of Positive Psychology as a strengths based approach to learning. Our continued investment in staff training with experts in the Positive Psychology field including Dr Justin Coulson, Psychologist Sarah Rallston and the Positive Education Institute will strengthen our skills. Additionally, our staff induction program invests in developing new staff to our school to ensure that they too develop the knowledge and skills necessary to support our positive school culture.
A focus on observation and feedback will be a focus of our leadership team to ensure that all staff continue to be supported and developed. Extending on this, we will develop the capacity of all staff to engage in peer coaching and the opportunity to observe colleagues and learn from each other.
We will continue to facilitate our 'Student Voice Forums' whereby offering students the opportunity to share their perspective and offer valuable insights and feedback to support our growth and development in Positive Psychology.
Furthermore, our learning frameworks, 5 Faces, 3 Brains, Learning Quadrants (see Reboot summary) and the Positive Change Highway will be expanded beyond House Care Group and LIFT to a more embedded approach across all classes, providing a common language for learning across our school community.
