The Special Education Unit are committed to: Creating successful futures, through advocacy, flexible thinking, high expectations and practical commitment to every student.

Our team is comprised of specialists who case manage students with verified disabilities. Our team consists of the Head of Special Education Services, Teachers, Teacher Aides, Advisory Visiting Teachers, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Regional Support Staff for Inclusion.

Our primary role is to assist students and teachers in accessing the curriculum. We achieve this by working collaboratively with teachers, parents and students to implement strategies and resources. Our Special Education Team maintains a holistic approach to facilitate student learning by collecting, collating and acting on information. This is achieved through formal assessments, observations and interactions with students; and discussions with parents'/carers as well as external agencies.

Students are supported in class and in the school community by the Special Education Team. We endeavour to provide every student with what they need in order to succeed and feel successful in their schooling journey. Our Case Management approach ensures a highly supportive framework for students to reach their potential in terms of educational and vocational outcomes and social and emotional wellbeing.

Any student with a disability wishing to enrol at Shailer Park State High School will need to apply through the schools required enrolment processes.
