Aim:
The aim of the sting futsal academy is to extend student opportunities both on the court and in the classroom. The strength of the sting futsal academy lies in its 'student-athlete' approach which focusses on developing each student's academic, sporting and personal characteristics and provides our students with genuine pathways towards sporting success.
Overview:
The Sting Futsal Academy has been running successfully for many years. The academy was originally created at Shailer Park State High School to give talented and committed students the opportunity to progress their performance in line with their academic achievement. The sport was introduced to the Brisbane area in the mid 80's and in the last 20 years there has been a huge influx within the sport due to its accessibility, its high intensity and the high level of technical skill required. With this in mind, students are provided with sessions that focus on both highly technical as well as tactical aspects of the game. Students are supplied with a choice for extra strength and conditioning sessions. There are regular academy meetings to monitor academic progress, provide guidance and check in with all squads to achieve a high level of student outcomes and success.
