Vocational Education and Training (VET) – What is it?
Designed to deliver workplace-specific skills and knowledge, vocational education and training (VET) covers a wide range of careers and industries, including trade and office work, retail, hospitality and technology as well as support roles in professions such as engineering, accountancy, nursing, medicine, child care, aged care, architecture and law.
VET at Shailer Park State High?
Here at Shailer Park State High, we are committed to providing a variety of Vocational Education Training programs to help our Senior Secondary students prepare to work in this wide range of careers and industries.
We do this through three main areas:

SAT’s - School Based Traineeships / Apprenticeships.

Certificates in School (PDF, 379KB) - Access to Certificate Courses run in the school, either by the school or by an external training organisation specialising in the relevant area.

Certificates Outside - Access to Certificate Courses outside of School predominantly through TAFE Queensland.

What about work experience?
Work Experience is a valuable process giving a student increased knowledge and skills.
Criteria
The Traffic Light System eligibility criteria applies—over 90% attendance, passing subjects, 1 or less behaviour referrals and school fees paid or payment plan in place.
